Prophet Peter Kimondo, the founder and leader of Christ Impact Church, has vehemently denied charges of sexually harassing a Nakuru resident in May 2022. The case has attracted significant attention, sparking a wave of public debate and legal scrutiny.

Peter Kimondo Baragu alias Prophet Peter of the Christ Impact Church in Ruiru was today arraigned before Principal Magistrate Ruth Kefa at the Nakuru Law Courts.

Prophet Peter Kimondo has denied to all the charges against him at the Nakuru Law Courts.

Court heard that on 27th May 2022, at approximately 9:00 pm, at the White House area of Nakuru East Sub-County, within Nakuru County, the accused intentionally and unlawfully caused his genitalia to penetrate the private area of James Kiarie Mungai without his consent.

The accused is also said to have committed an indecent act against the victim, a tuk-tuk driver, by inappropriately touching him and forcibly removing his clothing against his will.

Prosecution, led by Counsel Daniel Wakasyaka, opposed bail application, citing potential witness interference and the case’s significant public interest.

The matter was first reported in 2022, after which the accused went into hiding, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants on 1st March 2025.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and was detained pending bond/bail hearing on 18th March 2024.

“I am deeply saddened by the accusations, which I believe are unfounded and malicious,” said Kimondo. “As a man of God, I have always strived to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and morality in all my dealings, especially with members of my church. I categorically deny any wrongdoing and trust that the truth will come out during the legal proceedings.”

Man of God

The case has prompted reactions from both supporters and critics of the controversial preacher. Many of Kimondo’s followers have rallied behind him, calling the allegations a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his image. They argue that the prophet’s long-standing reputation as a spiritual leader should not be tainted by unsubstantiated claims.

On the other hand, human rights activists have expressed concern over the seriousness of the accusations and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. They emphasize the need for the legal system to handle such cases with sensitivity and fairness to ensure justice is served for the accuser.

The legal process is now underway, with the case expected to go on tomorrow.
Prophet Kimondo’s defense team has stated that they are fully prepared to contest the charges in a court of law, and they remain confident that the allegations will be proven false.

As the case continues to develop, the issue of sexual harassment, particularly within religious institutions, has raised important questions about accountability, transparency, and the protection of vulnerable individuals. This case serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and responsibility in all spheres of society, especially when it comes to the treatment of individuals in positions of power and influence.

For now, both Kimondo and the accuser await the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings, with many hoping that the matter will be resolved in a fair and just manner.
